Enjoy a unique excursion from the historic center of Morelia to Capula, the charming city known as the capital of Catrina. This experience will allow you to discover the art, tradition and delicious local gastronomy in an environment full of life and culture.
1. Start: Departure from Hotel Los Juaninos

We depart from the majestic Hotel Los Juaninos to Capula, just 20 kilometers away. The drive offers beautiful views of the Michoacan countryside as we make our way to this picturesque town known for its masterful pottery.

2. Arrival in Capula: A town of Traditions
Upon arrival in Capula, you will be greeted by its colorful streets full of artisan workshops. Our first stop will be at a workshop where you will learn the process of making the famous clay catrinas, a symbol of Mexican folk art and the celebration of the Day of the Dead. Local artisans will explain step-by-step how they shape and decorate these unique pieces, each with details that reflect the creativity and soul of the people.
3. "Capulineada" pottery workshop
We continue our visit with a stop at one of the workshops specializing in the production of "Capulineada" pottery, known for its distinctive and delicate hand-stippled designs. Here you will observe the delicate work of the artisans who create these beautiful ceramic pieces, which are truly functional works of art. In addition, you will have the opportunity to purchase one of these creations as a souvenir of your visit.
4. Traditional food tasting with a local cook

After enjoying the art, it's time to taste the most traditional dishes of Capula. We go to the home of a traditional cook, where you can taste a delicious "mole capulense", accompanied by handmade tortillas and other typical dishes of the region. Depending on the season, you can try other delicacies such as “corundas” or “uchepos”, all prepared with ancestral recipes that preserve the authentic flavors of Michoacan cuisine, intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO.

5. Stroll through the main square of Capula
After a satisfying meal, we invite you to take a stroll through Capula's main square, where you will find handicraft shops and small local markets offering more clay and ceramic creations. Here you can interact with the artisans and learn more about the history and traditions of this town.
6. Return to Hotel Los Juaninos

After a day full of art, culture and traditional flavors, we return to the Hotel Los Juaninos, where you can have a perfect closure for your day, enjoying a cocktail from our terrace.
